Chase & Status have torn the music world apart during the year since No More Idols was released by taking their 90s Drum and Bass influences and honing it to become Dubstep x Futuristic beats.

Announced earlier this month, Chase & Status are nominated for British Group at the BRIT Awards 2012, alongside heavyweights Arctic Monkeys, Elbow, Kasabian and Coldplay.

The Dubstep dons stamped their sound all over 2011 and paved the way for Dubstep to become a leading force in the UK music scene.

The other nominees of British Group have all won in previous years – Kasabian (2010), Elbow (2009), Arctic Monkeys (2008 and 2007) and Coldplay (2003).

Chase & Status are the freshest act in the category – this is the first time they have been nominated for the prestigious BRITs. CHASE & STATUS are also the only act to feature from the hugely successful dubstep genre that took over the UK charts and airwaves last year.

The duo Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status) say of their nomination: “It’s a real honour to be nominated for a Brit Award, especially alongside such great bands. Thanks to all who’ve supported us and continue to do so.”

Their sophomore album No More Idols is still flying high – debuting at #2 back in January 2011, yet to leave the top 75 in the year since release and double Platinum in the UK.

The duo, along with their frontman MC Rage, have built up a huge live following and their show is certainly one not to be missed. They were nominated for Best Live Act at the 2011 Q Awards.

Additionally, Chase & Status run their own record label MTA Records which is currently seeing a wide range of success with their first signing Nero hitting the #1 spot on both the singles and albums chart last August and Redlight currently sitting in the top 20 of the UK singles chart.
