“We’ve always dreamed of tearing down walls and opening people’s ears to new sounds so the whole world can discover and appreciate Malian music” Amadou & Mariam

Icons of Malian music with an illustrious multi-platinum career spanning nearly 50 years, GRAMMY Award-nominated Amadou & Mariam have today released new single ‘Mogolu (Moris Beat Remix)’. Their latest original work ‘Mogolu’ will be featured on ‘La Vie Est Belle’, a new album of their greatest hits since 1998. Amadou & Mariam’s music video for ‘Mogolu’ spotlights special guest French dancer Akamz (a TikTok phenomenon with 24+ million followers) whose electrifying dance moves are reworked in a new visualizer for ‘Mogolu (Moris Beat Remix)’. The duo’s hit song ‘Beaux Dimanches’ remixed by notorious French Hip-Hop producer Ever Mihigo (Aya Nakamura, Tiakola, Oboy) has also been recently released.

Due out on 6th September, ‘La Vie Est Belle’ highlights Amadou & Mariam’s legacy as Africa’s most famous duo and the incredible influence they’ve had on paving the way for exciting new African artists now hitting the mainstream. Amadou & Mariam are the ultimate ambassadors of Afro-pop who have collaborated with many of today’s biggest stars from U2, Coldplay, and Stevie Wonder to David Gilmour while selling more than 1 million albums across their catalogue of seven acclaimed studio albums. From dance floor bangers by Sofi Tukker and BLOND:ISH featuring Amadou & Mariam, to collabs with Santigold, TV On The Radio, Akon, and Damon Albarn, Amadou & Mariam are shapeshifters at the forefront of today’s trendsetting Africa music scene.

A mixture of highly danceable Afro-beat rhythms and melodies paying tribute to tradition and modernity, Mariam’s heavenly vocals caries “Mogolu” into the acclaimed realm of their most irresistible hits such as “Je Pense À Toi,” “Sabali,” “Mon Chéri,” and “Bofou Safou.” Mogolu, which means “people” in Bambara, is a celebration of human encounters, travels, and diversity, echoing Amadou & Mariam’s longstanding commitment to global peace, as well as an empowering invitation to dance. “Mogolu (Moris Beat Remix)” is a guaranteed summer dancefloor hit!  Amadou & Mariam’s upcoming album La Vie Est Belle, brings together exclusive material and essential songs beautifully capturing the last 20 years of the duo’s career on Because Music. La Vie Est Belle features highlights from Dimanche à Bamako – the notable album that propelled Amadou & Mariam into pop stardom turns 20 this year.

Over the course of their beloved career, Amadou & Mariam have taken the Malian blues that made them a household name and have opened it up to rock, hip-hop and dance/EDM influences, spreading their Afropop message and joie de vivre. In the words of Amadou & Mariam, “We’ve always dreamed of tearing down walls and opening people’s ears to new sounds so the whole world can discover and appreciate Malian music.”
