Having just completed their January UK headline tour including three sold out shows at Brixton Academy, The Maccabees release their brilliant new single ‘Kamakura’ February 26th on Fiction Records.
Live favourite ‘Kamakura’ is taken from The Maccabees latest LP ‘Marks To Prove It’, and was one of the earliest songs written for it. Felix White explains, “it came to life by merging a piece of music written on tour in Japan based on a day in Kamakura itself, and lyrics distinctly opposite, about kick-out time in British high street pubs”.
‘Marks To Prove It’ was the band’s first Number 1 album – it featured heavily in end of year roundups for best album and had the critics raving:
“Their best record yet” Q Magazine
“Stunning” Shortlist
“A triumph” The Times
“A masterpiece” Sunday Times Culture
“A beautifully crafted album” NME
“The perfect British band” Noisey
“An irresistible force” Drowned in Sound
The Maccabees are – Orlando Weeks vocals, Hugo White guitar, Felix White guitar, Rupert Jarvis bass and Sam Doyle drums.
