Toronto quartet ROMES have unveiled the video for their critically acclaimed debut single ‘Tryna Be’.

Featuring a bizarre and otherworldly siren traversing the streets of New York City, the oddly seductive temptress dances her tale of solitude to the tantalising indie pop soundtrack of ‘Tryna Be’.

‘Tryna Be’ is the first single to be taken from ROMES’ highly celebrated debut EP Believe, which has seen the band championed by tastemakers including Q, The Guardian and Noisey amongst a wealth of further praise.

With the Believe EP clocking up well over a MILLION plays on Spotify, ROMES have built a fervent fanbase across the globe and have achieved continued high profile public praise from the likes of Hozier and Lights. It was produced and mixed by Tony Hoffer (Beck, M83) and is a beaming, wide-eyed debut, which is eclectic yet comes with an instantly familiar taste.

Due to its popular success, the Believe EP will be getting a very special UK exclusive physical 7” record release on August 19th through Five Seven.

“The Canadian four-piece resemble a modern Duran Duran, combining exuberant, funked-up pop with traces of darker, more risqué rock… ROMES sound giddy with possibility” – The Guardian

“An indie-pop anthem replete with layers of unexpected percussion and rippling synths. Meanwhile singer Jacob delivers a topline melody that’s lithe and catchy as hell.” – Noisey
