The Parklife Weekender returns to Platts Field, Manchester for the third time this weekend, and promises to appeal to an even wider audience than ever before.
Previous years have seen a sold out event, with thousands flocking to the North West in search of an inner city escape. Promoters have comfirmed that the festival has outgrown its current location, serving as a true testament to its fast growing success.
With seven diverse stages to choose from, the two day festival kicks off with headliners The Flaming Lips and Dizzie Rascal and features a plethora of highly anticipated acts including Crystal Castles and Tom Vek.
Amongst the strong lineup, old favourites Nero and Erol Alkan join French duo Justice, who return for their first festival showcase since 2009.
Oklahoma favourites The Flaming Lips are sure to deliver a show which sets them apart from the rest on Saturday night, following their proposed ‘change in direction’ for 2012.
Other artists playing over the weekend include Joy Orbison, Julio Bashmore, Chic feat. Nile Rogers, Ghostpoet and The Rapture.
News of Harlem lyricist Azealia Banks cancelling her Parklife appearance will cause a slight dampener on the final day of the weekender. Cancelling the majority of her UK festival spots in aid of focusing on her upcoming album, we’re assured it will be worth the sacrifice.
The blow will be softened with artists such as Labrinth, De La Soul and old favourite Dizzie Rascal playing the Main Stage on Sunday.
