The hotly anticipated new single from The Mono LPs, ‘Christmas Time’ was released on 11th December and has already received support from: Elvis Costello, Wilko Johnson and Mark Radcliffe.
All proceeds from the sale of the single will go to Pancreatic Cancer UK, the only national charity fighting pancreatic cancer on all fronts: support, information, campaigning and research.
Front man of The Mono LPs, Ste Reid, wrote Christmas Time in memory of his mother, Joyce, who sadly passed away within 6 weeks of diagnosis of pancreatic cancer on 1st December 2011. Ste wrote the song on the first anniversary of her passing whilst away on a winter trip to Hawkshead, Lake District, and is now ready to share it with the world. For Ste, the song captures how he felt at his mum’s favourite time of year.
A deeply personal yet heart-warming song, Christmas Time describes a cold winter with thick snow, a chapel where he lit a candle and a festive market that made him reminisce about his beautiful mother and the importance of family that we can all relate to.
It’s about having to move on, but never forgetting your cherished memories. The lyrics reflect on what life can bring you after the passing of someone special. Life can still be wonderful if never the same.
Ste says of the song, ‘When mum was diagnosed we thought we would have options of surgery or radiotherapy or chemotherapy, but sadly not.
There was no offer of anything to help except the acceptance of her passing. I’m donating the proceeds from this record to Pancreatic Cancer UK to help fund further research to help prevent other people feeling helpless or lost.’
