Liverpool’s prolific psyche rockers – Elevant – are back and armed with an all new standalone single “Hide It Away” (released on the 8th July), the latest release to come from the DIY determined band’s own label Elevant Music Ltd. To mark the release, the trio have lined up a series of summer shows including a gig at Liverpool’s The Magnet on 31st July.

Their new song was Recorded by Connor Dickson at Canvas Studios and Mastered by Pete Maher (Jack White/Patti Smith/The Scissor Sisters).

Hot on the heels of their third full-length album, 2016’s ‘There is a Tide’, Elevant condense their sound to its essentials on ‘Hide it Away’ and push away from the grungier sounds of their earlier output, sharpening the hooks and tightening the rhythms. Here drummer Tom Shand and bassist Hannah Lodge deliver a slinky yet unhinged post-punk groove, both weird and danceable, whilst frontman Michael Edward weaves inbetween, adding dashes of sinister psychedelic colours and crooning seductively.

‘Hide it Away’ tells the tale of a lover’s plea to his partner to feign ignorant regarding his hedonistic addiction, in the hope that fake ignorance can remain bliss. The tale turns sour as his partner flees in the night whilst he indulges in hedonism, and the band promptly dismantles the groove as everything falls apart.
To mark the release of the new single, the trio will take their beguiling live proposition out on the road for a series UK shows this summer as follows:

The ‘Hide It Away’ single is the latest release on the band’s Elevant Music Limited label which frontman Michael Edward set up just over a year ago. The fledgling imprint recently released the debut single from Oxford’s Too Many Poets in January 2016 and are set announce some exciting new signings in the coming months.

The Elevant line up of Michael Edward (guitar / vocals), Tom Shand (drums / piano) and Hannah Lodge (bass / organ) have over the last two years combined their love of My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, St Vincent, Bauhaus, Tame Impala, The Melvins and Portishead to create something very special. Effortlessly twisting a pop hook to their post punk, psych and krautrock sound to great effect, there is an energy and vision that sets them apart from their contemporaries. ‘There Is A Tide’, released on CD and available to download, is the band’s third long player and follows their eponymous debut from 2014 and last year’s ‘Dreamface’ release. Recorded and self produced at 3rd Planet Recording Studios in Liverpool, the album was engineered by Kyle Western and mastered by Pete Maher (Jack White, Patti Smith, Scissor Sisters).
