Recordings of Robert Plant before Led Zeppelin have been uncovered and two of the tracks feature bassist John Paul Jones on vocals.

Due for release next year, the band intend to include the tracks amongst a series of Led Zeppelin reissues.

The Whole Lotta’ Love singer jokes that this is providing the bands bassist will let him. He said “I’m desperately trying to get this one track, or the two tracks, of John Paul Jones singing lead” adding “He’s going to give me two cars and a greenhouse not to get them on the album.”

This comes as good news for fans who were recently disappointed when the band announced they were abandoning their plans for a comeback gig in 2014.

Guitarist Page said, “We can’t go out as Led Zeppelin without Robert and he doesn’t want to do it.”

In a recent interview Plant spoke about his future plans with The Sensational Space Shifters, showing no signs of slowing down at the old age of 65.

Fellow aged rocker David Bowie is also airing previously unheard recordings on 6 Music promoting his 1973 covers album Pin Ups.
