Since collaborating on The Slim Shady EP and recording several tracks under the moniker Bad Meets Evil, Detroit rappers Eminem and Royce Da 5’9 have teamed up once again and will release a brand spanking new EP this summer.
The two long time friends have not recorded together for over a decade due to an on record beef between Royce and Em’s group, D12. The pair went back and forth on several diss tracks but have at last squashed the beef since Slim signed Royce’s new group Slaughterhouse to his record label.
Marshall confirmed the album in an official statement, saying: ‘Royce and I started hanging out again and inevitably that led us back into the studio,” the Recovery lyricist explained. “At first we were just seeing where it went without any real goal in mind, but the songs started to come together crazy, so here we are.’
One of Em’s most celebrated tracks, Renegade, which featured Jay-z and appeared on his double platinum album, The Blueprint, was originally a track by Royce and Em (check the video box for the original), but Royce’s verses were removed and Jigga jumped on the track with the 8-Mile star.
Royce also confirmed the collaboration album, saying: ‘I’m excited to see this project come to fruition considering the long lapse in time between when we worked before and now. We had a blast doing it and we just hope everyone enjoys it while we’re working on the monster that will be the Slaughterhouse album.’
