On Saturday 22nd September one of the biggest names in the scene drum&bass trio Drumsound & Bassline Smith delivered a slamming 120-minute mix of their signature drum and bass for Radio 1’s Essential Mix.
The British electronic production group hail from Derby, consisting of Andrew Wright, Benjamin Wiggett (Drumsound) and Simon ‘Bassline’ Smith.
Bassline Smith said: “Our Essential mix is two hours of music that really covers all the emotions in our DJ sets…. Moments of full-on energy fused with more laid-back moments, there’s also some fun elements to the mix too. As DJs we try to give people a good time experience as well as educate a little with new tracks, We have some exclusives on the mix from The Brookes Brothers, The Prototypes, Tantrum Desire, Smooth,Hashtag as well as exclusive first plays of some of our own forthcoming tracks taken from The Wall Of Sound Album, dropping soon!”

The 78-track strong Essential Mix drops ahead of the trio’s new single Daylight featuring indie-dance troupe Hadouken! which is already getting supported from Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, 1Xtra’s Crissy Criss and Kiss FM’s DJ Hype.
With all roads gearing up to their album Wall of Sound later this year, this is your chance to listen to some of the album tracks, exclusively dropped for their Essential Mix.
Check out their Utah Saints Something Good remix effort, renamed What Can You Do For Me. We think it sounds unfinished and doesn’t do much for Kate’s haunting vocals, unlike the Utah Saints 1992 version which reached #1 in the UK Dance charts and #4 in the UK pop charts.
