Misturado and Rebel Soul are working with national and international musicians and artists to bring Liverpool the ‘Brazilica Fringe Festival 2012: A celebration of the rich and diverse culture of Brazil’.

Over the course of the next couple of months we are busying ourselves to bring you a series of events focused on Brazilian music, arts and culture that will be programmed in the run up to, and throughout this years Brazilica Festival weekend.

Most events are free, and for those with an entrance fee, all proceeds go to support the Fringe and its performers, making sure there’s an ever growing space for local alternative musicians and artists in Liverpool.

Join the party season and enjoy the diversity Brazilica Fringe brings to Liverpool: from Samba to hip-hop; Capoeira to Swingova rhythms; cultural film to the Carnival Ball, the Fringe events appeal to the curious and the playful in all of us.

Juliana Landim from Misturado Collective and director of BrazUKa International: “As a Brazilian in Liverpool, I feel a huge responsibility to represent positively Brazilian culture in the city. The Brazilica Fringe exists not only as a platform for local, diverse artists and musicians, but also as a conduit for dialogue between British and Brazilian culture, making us all benefit positively from the exchange. The Fringe is here to show Liverpool that Brazil is not all about samba, but also captivating live music, provocative visual art, and intriguing cinema. “

Rory Taylor from Rebel Soul: “The Brazilica Fringe Festival in 2011 provided an opportunity for Rebel Soul and Misturado to collaborate with lots of wonderful musicians, artists, performers, makers, doers and venues. This year is going to be much bigger, as we’ll be working alongside over 40 other creative businesses and individuals in the city, sharing ideas, knowledge and experience. We can’t wait”

James Kirkham from Liverpool based film company, Clockwork Arts:

“Last year’s Brazilica Carnival Ball was dynamic, colourful and a lot of fun. You weren’t just watching the event, you were part of it. I was blown away”
