A new trailer has just been released for girl power movie You Again, staring Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver.

The official blurb;

No matter how old you are, you never get over high school. Successful PR pro Marni (Kristen Bell) heads home for her older brother’s (Jimmy Wolk) wedding and discovers that he’s marrying her high school arch nemesis (Odette Yustman), who’s conveniently forgotten all the rotten things she did so many years ago.

Then the bride’s jet-setting aunt (Sigourney Weaver) bursts in and Marni’s not-so-jet-setting mom (Jamie Lee Curtis) comes face to face with her own high school rival.

The claws come out and old wounds are opened in this crazy comedy about what happens when you’re reunited with the one person you’d like to forget.

Our unofficial blurb;

In the same league as The Women it seems to be a trend that aging leading ladies seem to feel the need to assert their star status with a terrible slapstick comedy about girl power.

The only difference being that in The Women the ladies were doing it for themselves, where as You Again is pinning them against one another.

The feminist in me hates this idea but I could live with it, if it were for a better reason than “I was prettier than you in High School”.

It could even be forgiven if the film seemed determined to keep the rivalry going and in an unexpected twist they all killed one another. But in true American style the trailer suggests a Hug-It-Out ending is all we’re going to get.

Groan.

Maybe they should have called it ‘This Again’, at least then it would have gotten a laugh.
