With the imminent release of Iron Man 2, Scarlett Johansson has expressed her dedication to kick ass new bad gal Black Widow and concerns about that costume.
After Emily Blunt ducked out of the role the blonde bombshell stepped up and has revealed how she got whipped into shape and “geek-ed out” for the role.
“I was a huge fan of the first movie and was quite ‘geek-ed’ out at being part of the second one. I just wanted to be a part of Iron Man so I really researched the comic books and came in with some ideas of my own about how to develop the character. I see her as being determined and ambitious,”
Speaking to Sci-Fi Movie Page, Johansson explains that her skin tight outfit filled her with fear on first glance.”I’ve never worn anything like it before, so I had a freak-out moment that lasted about half a day, but then I said ‘Okay, time to suck it up’ and just went full force into getting in shape to wear the costume and perform the physical action so it looked just right.”
And boy, did she get into shape. Using hand to hand combat and martial arts Johansson gave the stunt team a run for their money and got her moves, as well as her body, sleek, smooth and ready for action.
“When I first saw it completed and choreographed by the stunt team, I just thought to myself, ‘Oh my god, I don’t know how I’m going to do this,'” exclaims Johansson. “But then I took a deep breath and, with all the training and repetitions we put in during rehearsals, it just started to flow and it became a reality as I was doing it.”
According to Johansson hubby Ryan Reynolds wasn’t complaining about her latest role after she gave him a private preview of her costume.
Catch the Scarlett in full costume on Thursday 29th in special preview screenings at FACT or on general release from Friday 30th.
