The second trailer for American Hustle has been released as Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper team up to tackle corruption in 70s America.

Directed by David O’Russell, the factual-based crime drama sees Bronx con-man Irving Rosenfeld (Bale) work alongside FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Cooper) as the duo attempt to bring down criminals and the corrupt New Jersey Major Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner) through the Abscam Operation.

The full-length preview shows both men, complete with 70s flares and perms, meeting up and plotting the scam with assistance from their partners, played by Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence.

The two actresses are given plenty of screen time in the trailer with Adams’ character Sydney Prosser being asked at one point to put on a faux-pas English accent and be seductive while Lawrence’s character Roselyn comes off badly with her motherly skills in one humorous moment.

The clip then closes with a thrilling montage backed with 10538 by Electric Light Orchestra.

Strong support in the cast also comes from two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro as well as Michael Pena and Louis C.K.

All four stars appeared in O’Russell’s last two films with Cooper and Lawrence playing lovers in last year’s Silver Linings Playbook while Bale and Adams starred together in The Fighter.

The film will be released in cinemas in late December.
