Casino – The 1995 movie directed by legendary Martin Scorsese is based on the non-fiction book: Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas. The movie stars Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone. De Niro stars as Sam “Ace” Rothstein, Sam is a gambling handicapper that is contacted by the Italian Mob and put in charge of the fictional Tangiers casino in Las Vegas. De Niro’s character is based on Frank Rosenthal, a real organised crime associate. If you enjoy crime dramas with an edge, Casino is one to watch!

Coming up trumps at number 4 is the 1996 comedy-drama Swingers. The movie stars Jon Favreau as an actor finding trouble in his chosen career and so he decides to move from New York to L.A in a bid to find success. The relocation causes Mike and his girlfriend of six years to break up, which in turn leaves Mike feeling heartbroken. Favreau’s long time comedic partner Vince Vaughn also stars in this classic flick, and takes him on a midnight mission to Vegas to cheer him up. Any fans and players with passion for casino will appreciate this scene as the pair enjoy the thrills and spills of a night at the casino tables. A classic movie to say the least, one that helped make Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn the stars they are today.

Casino Royale comes in at number 3 on our list, the 2006 movie is the 21st film in the James Bond series and the first to star Daniel Craig in the lead role as fictional MI6 agent James Bond. This is set at the beginning of Bond’s career as Agent 007. It features plenty of gambling action, both in game and with lives. A thrill of a movie that’ll have you on the edge of your seat.

We’re nearing the end of our countdown, but don’t cash your chips in just yet. In at number 2 is Ocean’s Eleven. The 2001 comedy heist movie, is a remake of the classic 1960 Rat Pack film of the same name, this version has a star studded cast that includes George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts and more. It was a great success and spawned the sequels, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen.

But the movie that takes the #1 spot on this countdown is…. Rain Man. The 1988 American drama film directed by Barry Levinson and written by Barry Morrow and Ronald Bass. It tells the story of an abrasive and selfish young wheeler-dealer, Charlie Babbitt (Tom Cruise), who discovers that his estranged father has died and bequeathed all of his multimillion-dollar estate to his other son, Raymond (Dustin Hoffman), an autistic savant, of whose existence Charlie was unaware. Charlie is left only his father’s car and his collection of rose bushes.

Rain Man stars Tom Cruise in one of his most famous roles, alongside Hoffman. Charlie is left dealing with this new situation and what comes from his new life with his autistic brother. But it’s only when they take an unexpected detour to Las Vegas that they truly begin to appreciate and love each other. The iconic movie won 4 Oscars, a real classic!
