Christmas movie favourite Love Actually is heading to Liverpool this December – but this time there’ll be a full live orchestra along for the ride.
Love Actually Live in Concert comes to Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Saturday 5 December 2026, giving fans the chance to watch Richard Curtis’ much-loved festive rom-com on the big screen while its soundtrack is performed live.
As the film plays in high definition, a full orchestra will perform Craig Armstrong’s score in perfect time with the action, turning a familiar Christmas movie night into a much bigger live experience.
Released in 2003, Love Actually has gone on to become something of a festive institution. Its overlapping stories of romance, friendship, family and heartbreak all unfold against the backdrop of London in the frantic weeks before Christmas.
Of course, a huge part of its enduring popularity comes down to its ridiculously starry cast. Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Bill Nighy, Keira Knightley, Martine McCutcheon, Laura Linney, Rowan Atkinson and Martin Freeman are just some of the familiar faces appearing throughout the film.
More than 20 years later, scenes from Love Actually remain firmly embedded in British pop culture – from Hugh Grant dancing around Downing Street to those cue cards on the doorstep and Bill Nighy’s brilliantly shameless attempt at landing the Christmas number one.
The Liverpool show is part of a 14-date UK tour presented by JOY. Concerts, which will take Love Actually Live in Concert around the country throughout the festive season.
Beginning at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on 30 November, the tour will also stop in Edinburgh, London, Bath, Swansea, Nottingham, Sheffield, York, Birmingham, Manchester, Poole and Brighton before wrapping up in Portsmouth on 22 December.
But for Merseyside fans, it’s 5 December at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall that needs adding to the Christmas calendar.
Whether watching Love Actually every December is already a non-negotiable tradition or you just fancy experiencing one of Britain’s most famous festive films differently, this should make for a suitably Christmassy night out.
