An Instagram user named Off Track Outlet (@offtrackoutlet) has designed brilliant modern movie VHS covers for blockbuster movies such as Star Wars: the Force Awakens, Jurassic World, Big Hero 6, Deadpool and more.
One of our top favourites is Deadpool with the VHS cover made to look like Deadpool is a romantic comedy. Fan trailers and movie posters have also been made to depict Deadpool as a rom-com so it works hilariously and makes for a great effort.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is also done really great as it’s in the same vein as the original trilogy that many of us grew up watching, major points for nostalgia with that one.
Again, these VHS covers make me miss the days of walking through the aisles of a video rental store, figuring out what I wanted to pick up to watch that weekend. It’s a shame that VHS doesn’t have some kind of superior quality over Blu-ray or DVD like vinyl records do when compared to CDs or even most MP3s. Sadly, watching a VHS tape is almost torture after watching the clear picture that comes on today’s home video releases.
The VHS covers are a great throwback because we’re sure we’re not alone when we say that we all have a bunch of videos stacked somewhere, some of us probably have a VHS player boxed away too. As advanced and amazing technology of today is, there’s something we all miss about going to Blockbuster or even our local supermarkets and choosing a video to buy, some snacks and sitting down and watching it. It’s not the same these days. Saying that though, how did we live without clear High Definition visuals and audio!?
These VHS covers are a great imaginative way to see a current take on all the way we all grew up watching movies!
