The Bourne Identity star Matt Damon has entered talks to return to the series for a fourth outing.
Universal Pictures has opened negotiations with the actor and director Paul Greengrass about a new entry in the action-spy series, Deadline reports.
The last Bourne movie was 2012’s Jeremy Renner-starring spinoff The Bourne Legacy, a film that was due to receive a follow-up next summer.
However, the report suggests that Universal is willing to push back Renner’s Bourne sequel to pave the way for Damon’s fourth appearance as Jason Bourne.
The studio apparently intends to continue the series with both actors involved, but there are no plans for their paths to cross at present.
Damon last appeared as the super spy in 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum.
