Lifetime has announced they will be showing a film depicting the meeting and rocky marriage of superstar Whitney Houston and singer Bobby Brown.

Following the death of singer/actress Whitney Houston, Lifetime will be creating a movie telling of the marriage between the two celebrities and how it eventually lead to Whitney’s downfall.

The film will start with the two meeting and moves on through their dating and tells of the troubles that they had in their marriage.

The film is under the working title ‘Whitney Houston’ and will be directed by Angela Bassett, an oscar nominee, who is extremely excited to be working on the project based around one of the world’s most famous singers.

“I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story. Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”

The film will be produced under The Sanitsky Company, with the script being written by Shem Bitterman.

Angela Bassett has worked with Lifetime in the past on other projects including ‘Betty and Coretta’ which was the story of Coretta Scott King and Dr Betty Shabazz who became close after their husband’s assassinations.

The film starred Mary J Blige who played Betty and Malik Yoba who played Coretta. This film was nominated for an SAG award and a NAACP Image Award.

This is also not the first project that Lifetime have worked on following Whitney’s death. They also aired a 14 episode docuseries named ‘The Houston’s: On Our Own’ which followed the life of Whitney’s family, including her daughter Bobbi Kristina as they try to cope with her death.

You can look forward to the worldwide premiere in 2015.
