The Justice League film has finally been given the green light by Warner Bros.
The much-anticipated superhero epic had its big-screen outing confirmed by Warner CEO Kevin Tsjulihara.
Like Marvel Studios’ The Avengers, the film features a host of major superheroes from DC Comics which include Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.
The three characters are all due to appear together on screen in Zack Snyder’s upcoming blockbuster sequel Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which comes out in 2015.
Snyder will also be directing the Justice League film which is set to feature Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
The latter character has been given her own spinoff film which will be released in 2017, the same year that Justice League is scheduled to open.
There are also solo films for other DC Comic superheroes like Aquaman and The Flash with release dates set for 2018. Game of Thrones star Jason Mamoa has been confirmed to play the former with We Need to Talk About Kevin actor Ezra Miller playing the latter.
Rounding off a busy schedule for Warner, they will conclude the line-up of superhero films with Justice League 2, which has already been announced for 2019.
