Javier Bardem linked with villain role in Pirates of the Caribbean 5

Javier Bardem is reportedly in line to play the villain in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The Skyfall actor is being link with the part of Captain Brand, a ghost seeking revenge against Jack Sparrow for the death of his brother, according to The Wrap.

Inglorious Basterds star Christoph Waltz was previously tipped for the role, but Bardem is believed to have received a firm offer.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will see Johnny Depp reprise his role as Jack Sparrow, while Geoffrey Rush is rumoured to be returning as Captain Barbossa.

Bardem’s wife, Penelope Cruz, appeared in the fourth entry in the swashbuckling series, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which saw Jack Sparrow seeking the Fountain of Youth.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be released in July, 2017.
