Guardians of the Galaxy will receive a sequel in 2017, Marvel Studios has announced.
The follow-up to James Gunn’s cosmic superhero adventure was officially confirmed at Comic-Con International in San Diego this weekend.
Guardians stars Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) will reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel.
Marvel has also confirmed that No Country for Old Men star Josh Brolin will feature as the intergalactic villain Thanos in a number of future films, including Guardians 2.
“Josh brings all the weight and stature necessary for a character as iconic and significant as Thanos,” said Guardians producer Kevin Feige.
“We’re incredibly excited for fans to see more of him as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand.”
The original Guardians of the Galaxy will arrive in UK cinemas on 31st July, with Guardians 2 landing on 28th July, 2017.
