To celebrate this year’s Ghostbusters Day, fan franchise group The Buffalo Ghostbusters are set to host their annual fundraiser for New York City’s Hook & Ladder 8, otherwise known as the Ghostbusters Firehouse.
This year’s goal is set at $10,000. Funds raised will contribute towards an FDNY transport van in honour of the late Lt. Vincent Halloran, who sadly passed away in the 9/11 attacks.
Ghostbusters Day this year is set to be one of the biggest celebrations yet, with the usual fan gatherings, and a wide range of festivities including special appearances by the Echo-1 NJ and Echo-NYC, exclusive merchandise, a film location walking tour and a newly announced live performance by The Alessi Brothers.
Bobby and Billy Alessi performed the classic track “Saving the Day,” featured on the award-winning 1984 soundtrack. The song was also used as an anthem during the film’s third act that sees the city of New York rallying behind the Ghostbusters.
Scheduled for the 10th of June at midday EST outside of Hook & Ladder 8, more announcements and reveals are expected over the next month, it’s set to be a can’t miss event for all attendees.
This event will be global. They had a local event last year but this year, it will go globally. Keep in mind that they have a really good strategy to promote the “Ghostbusters Day” event on TikTok and YouTube. Short video clips made from fans are a really solid way to make more people interested. Even Twitch streamers are into this bandwagon and they are talking about it. In most cases, they buy Twitch views and get better organic exposure.
Before the big day, fans of all ages and artistic abilities are asked to participate in the “THANK YOU LADDER 8” initiative. A collaboration between The Buffalo Ghostbusters and The Mooglie Fan Club, for those who would like to take part, download and use this template and mail in your submission. Artwork will be compiled and presented to Hook & Ladder during the celebration.
