Production on Fast & Furious 7 has been halted following the shock death of actor Paul Walker.

The 40-year old star, who played undercover cop Brian O’Conner in the successful action franchise, was tragically killed in a car crash on Sunday.

Prior to that, he had been working on the seventh installment of the series and was due to travel to Abu Dhabi to film additional scenes in January.

It is now understood that director James Wan and Universal executives have held a meeting to discuss the project’s future, which could include possible rewrites.

Following his death, Universal Pictures issued a statement to express their devastation about the actor’s death.

It read: “All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast and Furious films, and to countless fans.

“We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul’s family.”

As expected, filming was cancelled on December 2nd to allow Walker’s co-stars to grieve for their late colleague.
