FACT is presenting a special screening of the artistic feature film Art Party this week.

The part political documentary and part road movie will be shown at the illustrious Liverpool cinema on Thursday 21st August as part of a series of simultaneous nationwide art parties this summer.

Collaborated between British artists Bob and Roberta Smith and director Tim Newton, the film focuses on the spiritual Scarborough art conference, which supported the significance of art and its place in education and modern politics in November 2013.

The film stars John Voce as politician Michael Grove MP with Julia Rayner offering support as his hapless aide.

There is also work from diverse artists like Cornelia Parker, John Smith, Haroon Mirza, Jeremy Deller and Jessica Voorsanger, while original music is provided by Flameproof Moth, the Ken Ardley Playboys and Jemma Freeman’s band, The Fucks.

Once the screening ends, FACT will be hosting an Art Party in Ropewalks Square which features live music, screen-printing and interactive games.

Additional events taking place on the day are as follows:

The Liverpool International Music Festival will present live music from a host of local bands including Mutant Vinyl, Amique, We The Undersigned, and Sub Blue.

The Bluecoat will be printing t-shirts and posters with protest slogans designed by local artists. Visitors will be invited to try their hand at printing and can take home some of the handmade products.

Liverpool Pride will be bringing along some of their protest materials for display.

New artist-led gallery Model will present their first offsite project. More information will be revealed soon.

The Garden by LEAF will be open late, serving take away food and drinks for party-goers to enjoy in Ropewalks Square.
