For many audiences, it’s hard to believe that it’s been over twenty years since the hit action adventure Jumanji landed in cinemas.
The 1995 family blockbuster starred the late Robin Williams as a man trapped in a magical jungle-themed board game for 26 years who was able to return to the human world only to be accompanied by a swarm of animals that would cause havoc.
Though Williams tragically died in 2014, a sequel / reboot has been made with a new-look cast taking centre stage. Entitled Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the film has premiered its official trailer online.
Directed by Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher, Sex Tape), the plot sees a group of high school students find an old video game console that allows them to play as adult avatars in a jungle- themed game. However they face a battle to survive the game knowing that if they don’t, they will be trapped in it forever.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (Fast and Furious series, Baywatch), Jack Black (School of Rock, King Kong), Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, Guardians of the Galaxy) and Kevin Hart (Ride Along, Central Intelligence) play the adult avatars with the rest of the cast including Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Missi Pyle, Nick Jonas and Tim Matheson.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will be released in the UK on December 22nd.
