Bea Arthur, star of The Golden Girls, sadly passed away in 2009, however her number one fan Deadpool is not letting his love go unnoticed.

The Merc With The Mouth’s admiration for the actress has long been a recurring joke in comics for many years.

To commemorate the anniversary of her show The Golden Girls (which debuted September 14th 1985), Deadpool paid his own little tribute. See the tweet in the link below.

“30 years of the #GoldenGirls showering us with fun. #Deadpool” – http://bit.ly/1LAciDP

Golden Girls’ 30th anniversary was marked by Deadpool’s fine piece of art on Twitter. As refined in craft as it is though, the caption manages to crack in a fun, crude joke. Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds followed that up with his own crude quip. The tweet can be seen in the link below.

You guessed it too, Bea Arthur gets what some may call an enviable spot in the bed as the only woman on Deadpool’s left side, saying that though, it may be worth noting that Betty White and Rue McClanahan remain in the bed, We’re going to assume that Estelle Getty declined to partake in any of the Merc’s raucous behaviour.

Deadpool’s infatuation with Bea Arthur dates back to writer Fabian Nicieza’s work on the series “Deadpool & Cable.” Several of the first panels in the first issue from 2004 notably feature the appreciation for Bea Arthur’s beauty, you can see an illustration displaying this in the gallery at the top of the page.

This passion had returned many times in the comics, with the deranged anti-hero hallucinating the Golden Girls star’s image. An example of this can also be seen in our images here.

In perhaps bold proof of his admiration, Deadpool (along with the other members of Deadpool Corps) named their ship The Bea Arthur.

Given how fixated filmakers behind the movie are about the Deadpool character, the movie will surely feature a nod to the merc’s love of Bea Arthur.

But we’ll have to wait until the movie hits cinemas on the 12th of February 2016, to find out.
