In what has been a busy day at the D23 Expo, Disney have been releasing key details about various projects which include a number of live-action remakes of beloved animated films.

Amongst those classics getting the CGI treatment is the 1941 hit Dumbo which is being helmed by the flamboyant Tim Burton.

The director of such hit films as Beetlejuice, Batman, Sleepy Hollow, Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland will be tackling the project and has managed to land a quartet of talented actors to star.

Colin Farrell is the high profile name to link up with Burton who has also brought in actors from previous films including Michael Keaton, Eva Green and Danny DeVito. Their roles are not yet known at this given time.

For those unfamiliar with the original film, the story focuses on a young elephant who is born with large ears but overcomes obstacles to become the world’s first flying elephant.

Dumbo is one of the new projects to join Disney’s latest wave of animated-to- live-action films. Fans have already seen versions for Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty (as Maleficent), The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, and Alice in Wonderland. Aladdin, Mulan and The Lion King are also coming in the years ahead.

Tim Burton’s Dumbo is scheduled for release on March 29th 2019.
