Brad Pitt, the star of Tarantino’s popular World War II remake Inglorious Basterds, is now the proud owner of a vintage WWII Spitfire plane.

The actor splashed out £2 million on the iconic plane after developing a keen interest in all things World War II.

The Hollywood actor is due to star in the World War II drama Fury, which tells the story of an American tank crew during the fall of the Nazi regime.

Fury director David Ayer reportedly left Brad and his co-star Shia Labeouf in the British wilderness without cell phones in order to bond and prepare for their roles.

A source said: “Brad, who has done everything from sleep in trenches to learn to drive a tank for the film, has now invested in one of the iconic machines.”

The World War Z actor is due to take flying lessons in the one man plane at the Boulbee Flying Academy in Oxford. The school, who teach many ‘high profile’ clients have refused to comment on their students progress, but they do say,

“Buying spitfires is very popular with wealthy individuals.”
