Moviegoers have a busy holiday season coming up, with a number of major releases on the way. But once we’re through December, attention will turn toward a loaded slate of 2014 movie releases that look like potential hits. So to get a head start on 2014, here’s a look at 10 big deal films on the way.

1. Noah
A Biblical epic starring Russell Crowe as Noah, alongside the likes of Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson, it’s one of the most ambitious projects for 2014.

2. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The sequel to the Spider-Man reboot featuring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, this one will hope to launch another Marvel franchise.

3. 300: Rise Of An Empire
It will be tough to continue the magic of the original without King Leonidas (Gerard Butler), but this will likely be a box office success nonetheless.

4. X-Men: Days Of Future Past
The direct follow-up to 2011’s “First Class,” this has X-Men fans jittery with anticipation. It looks to be a sweeping project blending past and present generations of X-Men.

5. Transcendence
The first film from director Wally Pfister – incidentally, Christopher Nolan’s long time director of photography – this should be a mind-bending experience, and features a loaded cast headlined by Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman.

6. Winter’s Tale
Colin Farrell tends to be overlooked a bit, though he’s really done some fine work, and “Winter’s Tale” looks promising. If you need convincing on Farrell’s talents, check out “In Bruges.” The black comedy is currently featured on Picturebox Films, a subscription streaming service that rotates its film selection. In the meantime, “Winter’s Tale” also features Russell Crowe and Will Smith, and looks promising.

7. Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes
This will be the sequel to the surprisingly successful “Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes.”

8. The Monuments Men
George Clooney and Matt Damon guarantee box office success, especially because the story is so different than what we’re used to seeing from World War II films. In this one, you’ll watch as a team is sent into Nazi Germany to rescue and preserve—wait for it—art.

9. Interstellar
The latest project from Christopher Nolan, it’s a space adventure starring Matthew McConaughey and Jessica Chastain, among others.

10. The Hobbit: There & Back Again
The final (we think) link between The Hobbit and LOTR will be out by the end of 2014, and should be a major event.
