Purple Revolver went along to O’Connor’s to sample the new sweet and savoury Afternoon Tea menu, which adds a modern twist to our quintessential British favourite.
What a treat, Friday afternoon spent soaking up the delights of one of Liverpool’s most beautiful parks. The dining room offers unrivalled views of the lake, ahhhhh time to unwind and await the refreshing tea and cake.
But wait. Our waitress summoned us up a cake stand bursting, not only with sumptuous goodies, but a variety of meaty treats. Gone are the egg and cress triangles, here come mini gourmet burgers, onion rings and chip cones.
These tasty warm munchables definitely show off the skills of the bar and grill chef. Served with your choice of drink, tea, coffee or maybe a tipple of vino, the choice is yours.
You could easily while away the hours day dreaming amongst the beautiful scenery and slowly devouring the oodles of cake. More than five choices, chocolate fudge cake, carrot cake, chocolate eclairs the list goes on.
Fresh fruit and a signature sherbet strawberry coulis, allows you to cleanse your pallet between courses, a culinary magic.
O’Connors is a hidden gem, located in Sefton park directly opposite the lake. A great destination for a first date, treat for someone special or a family gathering. If you wanted to make a night of it you could visit their traditional bar too.
The restaurant’s decor boasts a classic green and gold celebrating Irish culture. A Bodhran drum and photographs of the best pubs in Ireland add character and insight into the team at O’Connors.
We were delighted when Conor O’Donovan the Chief Executive of the hotel, a lovely warm and genuine Irishman added a personal touch to our dining experience, by greeting his guests and along with his team, made sure everyone got what they wanted.
This new afternoon tea menu, is on my summer, autumn and winter time treat list. Friendly and attentive staff, great value, surrounded by nature and tasty food. Enough to take some home for your loved ones that could not make it, or for another nibble, post walk around the park.
