The Liverpool building which houses an iconic music venue and recording studio, may soon be torn down and replaced with apartments.
The home of Parr Street Studios, along with Studio 2 and Attic, could end up being demolished under recent plans submitted to the Liverpool Council.
PJ Percival is looking to build a multi-storey building including a hotel and apartments, and recently applied for permission.
Under the plans the building which houses Parr Street Studios, which has hosted major stars like Drake and Rihanna, would be demolished.
A report submitted with the application says that despite its cultural significance, the building which houses the studios is of “low or medium” conservation significance.
The report says: “Artists such as Atomic Kitten, Badly Drawn Boy, Barry Manilow, Beautiful South, Bjork, Black Sabbath, Diana Ross, The Charlatans, Moby, Pulp, Sterophonics and Take That amongst others, have all recorded at the studios.
“As such, the building is closely associated with Liverpool’s world-renowned music culture.
“The building is of some modest local interest due to its unusual art-deco architectural design, its warehouse character and its use as a recording studio in the latter decades of the 20th century.
“It is therefore considered that the existing building possesses some architectural and historic interest.
“Consequently, it is of low medium conservation significance.
Parr Street is a place used consistently by artists from both Merseyside and worldwide for decades.

Purple Revolver’s very first office was also located on the top floor of Parr Street Studios.
The new development, which would cover 33-55 Parr Street, would see an aparthotel be built in the lower floors of the building, with the block of flats above it.
Mosaic Town Planning is the planner for the project, with the proposals being drawn up by Architecture JD.
