Hollywood’s most loved hipster Chloe Sevigny is back with a vengeance in the new Sky Atlantic mini-series about a transsexual assassin in Hit & Miss.
She describes it as a love story between Mia, her character and the son she discovers she has.
On her most challenging role to date, she said: “I’ve been lucky in my career, I’ve worked steadily, but I’ve never had a really big juicy role like this. This is my first leading role.”
Chloe plays Mia, a preoperative male-to-female transsexual who works with cool efficiency as a contract killer.
She discovers to her shock that she is also a father, an ex-girlfriend writes to tell her that they have an 11-year-old son.
The mother of her son is terminally ill and has nominated Mia as guardian of the boy and his three half-siblings.
Chloe said: “It’s kind of disturbing at times, but very subtle, lyrical and touching.”
To prepare for the role Chloe spoke to transsexuals, she said: “I sat down with some M to F girls and they were very open with me, very generous. I asked about sex, and how you would manage if you wanted to seduce a boy.”
Hit and Miss series director Sheree Folkson said the mini-series is very dark and arthouse with no jokes at all.
She said: “I really enjoyed being able to do something very atmospheric, visual and filmic – it has much less dialogue than most TV which meant at times I could really let my imagination fly.”
