With the final Bank Holiday of the year fast approaching, what can you look forward to getting up to?
If you like your house & techno mixed with a bit of Indian spice for good measure, then head on down to Take 5 café from 10pm on Friday.
The café will be serving its famous £5 a curry from 8pm, (you can even have two types of curry on your plate if you’re feeling indecisive.)
After the scrumptious lining of your stomach, you can look forward to sets from the likes of BMO, The Kelly Twins and Kowton.
For only £3, the night will keep on going until 3am. That’s less than a quid an hour for the finest house & techno sets around.
If techno’s not your ting, then you can look forward to ‘A dance for Japan’ at Timbuk2.
Raising funds for the recent tsunami devastation, Bristol’s finest dub, reggae and hip hop DJ’s have come together to raise as much money for this worthy cause.
Ray Mighty will be taking to the decks, as well as DJ Quest, Dave Cridge and Peng! Sound’s very own Ossia. Entry is free before 12:30am, with a charge of only £5 after that.
And as it’s organised in aid of the British Red Cross, every penny will go to charity.
If you’re looking for more of a live music vibe, then you can expect some exciting sounds coming out of the Louisiana. Bristol’s very own Oxygen Thief will be supporting Planes – a Placebo side project from drummer Steve Forrest.
Bristol’s finest alt rockers, Laws of Motion, will also be on hand to support Planes and the release of their debut album. Entry is only £5 adv.
Cosies will take the lead on Saturday, with their offering of ‘The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse.’ The Kelly Twins will be going head to head with Spooks & Shaun P, in a night they have described as ‘the enemies of mankind live in session.’
Expect house and techno with a splash of garage and electro to keep you going. Starting at 9pm and finishing at around the half two point, entry will only be £3.
On Sunday, it’s back to Timbuk2 for a Bank holiday special – Groove On! Presents… Leftroom Bristol ft. Matt Tolfrey.
Room one will play host to a three hour long set by Matt Tolfrey vs. Gavin Herlihy. They’ll also be joined by Waif’s & Strays, Fred Prest, Pardon My French and Alex Golesworthy.
Bristol’s favourite independent record shop, Idle Hands, will be taking the reins in room two. Showcasing some of their best Bristol talents, The Kelly Twins, Shanti Celeste and Outboxx will be taking to the decks.
Jack Priest will be finishing off room two, with a slot of 3:30am – 5am.
Starting at 11pm and continuing on to a mighty 9am, this is surely in the running for the best bank holiday line up all weekend.
