Arcade Fire previewed their new album The Suburbs yesterday in front of a 1,200 crowd in the Granada Theatre in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
The Canadian group played their comeback gig in the ornate venue and lead singer Win Butler apologised for never making the two hour journey from their hometown Montreal in the past.
The band’s leader said: “It’s great to finally be in Sherbrooke. We were fools not to come sooner. We beg your forgiveness.”
The multi instrumentalist band tested much of their new material for the lucky spectators including Ready to Start, Used to Wait and Empty Room among a host of other new songs. They also played a number of old favorites including Rebellion (lies) and Neighborhood #3 (Power Out).
An acoustic version of the perennial show-closer Wake Up ended proceedings as Butler said adieu to the mass, hopeful that the band could play to the crowd again in the near future saying, “Thanks you very much for coming. We’ll see you soon, like tomorrow or something.”
