Coming on the back of strong support from the likes BBC 1Xtra, Red Bull UK, Wonderland Magazine, The 405, EARMILK, Reprezent Radio, Pardon My Blog, Acclaim Magazine and RnBass so far this year, fast-rising British R&B singer and songwriter, and one to watch for 2018, Robyn Paige is proud to release her highly anticipated debut EP titled Genesis, which is out now, following an exclusive first-listen via The Music Ninja.
Backed by lead singles ‘Righteous’, ‘White Space’ and ‘Ocean Deep’, which have all been released to rave reviews and critical acclaim in the past few months, Robyn Paige’s Genesis EP sees the Essex native collaborating with burgeoning producer Sampl on all five tracks of the exciting debut record, with guest appearances from Josh Kai on ‘Ocean Deep’, and Johnson Orchid on ‘White Space’.
Clocking in at just under fifteen minutes, Robyn’s Genesis EP is short, sweet, to the point, and definitely leaves you wanting more, by the time the final track of the EP, ‘Jaded’ comes to a close. The project is underpinned by Robyn’s emotive and captivating vocals, lush tones, strong song writing dexterity, and honest and relatable lyrics, backed by the most majestic, atmospheric and infectious musical backdrops.
From ‘Righteous’, the EP’s sultry piano-led opener about trying and failing to resist doing wrong, and the inward looking ‘White Space’ with its minimalist dance sensibilities, to the thought-provoking ‘Ocean Deep’ which sees Robyn at her most vulnerable, and Robyn’s very own girl-anthem about taking back control of the love you gave someone ‘Jaded’, her Genesis EP makes for a stunning debut offering.
Speaking about the inspiration behind her Genesis EP, Robyn Paige says, “‘Genesis’ means the beginning, and I chose this as the title for my first body of work because I feel like this is just the beginning for me. It feels great to release these five tracks, which I feel like are a representation of my growth as an artist. I finally feel like I have come into my own and still have so much more to give”.
She adds that, “From Josh and Johson, to my co-writers Corázon, Brook Baili and Janiece Myers, I worked with some really talented artists who have all been with me on this journey at different stages, and Sampl who I’ve worked with from the start. I hope people receive and enjoy the music as much as I’ve enjoyed to the journey in getting to this point and can’t wait to continue to release more”.
