It’s been a busy bank holiday weekend for Odd Future. Several members of the much hyped collective, including Tyler, Hodgy Beats and Left Brain, crowd surfed, swore and shocked their way into UK music fans’ hearts.
Never short of a controversy or two, Tyler let his feelings about the Royal Wedding (Which the Queen thoughtlessly booked to clash with OF’s gig) flow at their Village Underground show on Friday.
With Union Jack flags and banners flying the Yonkers man went at Will and Kate (check out the clip here), calling her a ‘Bitch’ and the future King a ‘Faggot’.
Tyler then attempted a stage-dive from a 10ft speaker, that left him needing medical attention.
With The Creator all bandaged up, the boys finished off their UK visit by playing the Camden Crawl Festival on Sunday.
Energy does not seem to be a problem for the LA collective and more crowd surfing and general jumping about ensued, leading to the crowd at the Red Bull Bedroom Jam arena to bum rush security and invade the stage.
The OF leader incited the Camden crowd by saying, ‘I feel your energy, the only problem is these fucking barricades.’
OFWGKTA were the act to see this weekend in London, but how do you feel about the anti-establishment antics of hip-hop’s new darlings, just what the industry needs or is Royal bashing a step too far? Let us know in the comments box below.
Tyler’s Goblin album is due to drop May 10th on XL Records. We’re excited – watch this space for a review
