With her highly anticipated EP set to drop this month, London-based alt-pop newcomer Greta Jaime has been making waves across the UK’s music scene. Following on from her breezy anthem ‘Exit Signs’, the singer returns to unveil her latest single ‘Act One’.

Since the release of her debut single ‘Lost in Mexico’, which received spins from BBC 6Music’sTom Robinson; the North Londoner has continued to perfect her electronic-pop loops, while still maintaining a sense of maturity in her delivery. To describe her style, think if Tove-Lo and BANKScould have a musical love child.

New outing ‘Act One’ is the fifth track to be lifted from the experimental pop producer’s EP of the same title. Brimming with rawness, ‘Act One’ exhibits Greta’s diverse DIY sound palette; with a splicing concoction of melodic strings which interweaves through an underlying crisp beat, and punchy synths; creating the perfect springboard for her gracious vocals.

In talks of her single, Greta says: “The songs about dealing with the pain of knowing a relationship needs to end but that it won’t yet. The theatre metaphor is something I explore throughout the EP as it felt like a fitting way to capture the drama in relationships that often lack honesty. The track came about as a very simple piano demo and I worked throughout the production process to offset the sadder lyrics with more upbeat and dynamic rhythms.”

Over the years, Greta has received support from BBC Introducing London and Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday Philippines’; as well being longlisted for Glastonbury Festival’s ‘Emerging Talent Competition’ alongside respectable names including Cosmo Pyke, Fenne Lily and Jordan Rakei. In 2019, her melodious infused bop ‘Internet Love’ quickly surpassed over 50,000 streams, making Greta a thrilling new talent on the rise. As stated by The Line of Best Fit, she is certainly one to watch this year.

Act One Single will be available to stream now.

Greta’s debut EP Act One is set for release on Thursday 12th November 2020.
