Following the release of his most recent single ‘CURFEW’, burgeoning, transatlantic maverick MAUVEY is back with kaleidoscopic alt-pop banger ‘PROVE IT!’. Out now, the new track comes ahead of his upcoming EP, ‘BEFORE THE ALBUM: A love letter to the moons of Mars’, which is slated for release on 4th November.
Born in Ghana, and raised across the UK and Canada, Mauvey’s upbringing inoculates his rich palette of unique alternative pop music, taking inspiration from the likes of Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Oumou Sangaré, Prince, and Labrinth.
“empowering alt-pop…that blesses listeners with melodic lyricism, razor-sharp production and a mesmerising bassline”
“Exploring ideas of equality and respect, the uplifting song expands on Mauvey’s continuous message of love and self-worth”
“…intelligent melody and truly hypnotic beats”
Known to be an emotional wreck both on and off stage, Mauvey endeavours to showcase raw sentiment through his songwriting, intertwining striking melodies and hypnotic beats with his distinctive and resonant vocals.
His latest offering, disorderly alt-pop track ‘PROVE IT!’ portrays Mauvey’s own take on the things he would say to his younger self. A continuation of his self-proclaimed mission to distribute love through his music, he bares all on this candid single. Above glistening keys and a thunderous beat, he reassuringly chants “I bet you I love you / More than you think I do” followed by “And if you want me to / I’ll prove it”.
Speaking of the track, he says: “I wanted to write the answer to a question I’ve been asked repeatedly since about the second month of the pandemic. The question was, ‘If you were face to face with your younger self, how would the conversation go?’ It took a while, but ‘PROVE IT!’ is my answer.”
Throughout his career so far, Mauvey has garnered support from BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 1, Exclaim!, Complex, Range Magazine, Selector Radio and The Block CBC.. Mauvey has taken stages with a vengeance including performances at SXSW, The Great Escape, support slots for easy life and Snotty Nose Rez Kids, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Isle of Wight Festival, a 20 date UK headline tour, plus showcase sets at M for Montreal and Focus Wales.
‘PROVE IT!’ is out now with the new EP ‘BEFORE THE ALBUM: A love letter to the moons of Mars’ set for release 4th November, both via 604 Records
