New Manchester based six piece Folks have are presently on tour across the UK and just released a free download of a new track, Avalanche. Check out the trailer for the video.
The band have already picked up two highly notable fans, Miles Kane, currently enjoying solo success as well as being one half of The Last Shadow Puppets and former Oasis leader Noel Gallagher.
Folks tour across Blighty until early October and following a short break go back out on the road with Miles Kane.
Between this and resuming their own headlining dates, the band support Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at the Roundhouse in London in October. See below for full details.
The former Oasis man was impressed enough to ask Folks to perform two songs when he sat in for Dermot O’Leary on the DJ’s BBC Radio 2 show last week.
Bringing together classic song writing with emotive vocals and irresistible melodies, Folks were formed when guitarist and writer Michael Beasley hooked up with vocalist Scott Anderson.
The two relocated to the US to record what would end up being their debut album, to be released early 2012.
On their return to the UK the duo pulled together a full band with Thom Fripp, lead guitar, Harry Gumery, bass, Wil Akroyd, keyboards and Elliot Barlow, drums)
The group kept themselves busy in an out of the way rehearsal studio, letting their tunes evolve before taking their music to the people.
