New York singer songwriter Luke Elliot has revealed a new track taken from his debut album ‘Dressed For The Occasion’, the melancholic ballad ‘Let It Rain On Me’.
The song is evocative of Nick Cave’s more tender moments, as Luke sings forlornly backed by just a piano and a beautiful melody that sounds like it has always been in existence.
‘Let It Rain On Me’ shows a much more vulnerable side to Elliot’s sound, especially in comparison to the more boisterous first single ‘Trouble’, and proves the songwriter to be a unique proposition, and a renaissance man from the Leonard Cohen / Tom Waits school of classic songwriting.
Luke’s timeless songs first caught attention when he was spotted performing in a bar in New York by one of Norway’s most prominent music journalists, for the paper VG. After a temporary relocation to Norway, Luke’s unhinged and visceral performances began to catch attention – most notably of John Agnello, who flew from New York to Norway to work with Luke, having built his own reputation working with the likes of Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Kurt Vile and The War On Drugs.

‘Dressed For The Occasion’ achieved great success when it was released in Norway, breaking into the Top 10 iTunes Album Chart, and also led to Luke performing on the country’s two most popular TV shows, as well as being named one of the world’s five best new artists of 2015 by Tidal.
Now, as the album is to be released in the UK, Luke prepares to introduce himself to a British audience with ‘Let It Rain On Me’, showing a classic and enduring side to the troubadour’s beautiful repertoire.
