Oxford-based singer/songwriter Lewis Watson returns with a brand new song ‘little light’ taken from his upcoming second album midnight, out March 3rd through Cooking Vinyl. The 360-degree video, made in partnership with MelodyVR, shows Lewis and his band performing the track on an East London rooftop.

The dramatic new track is a beautiful return from the hugely acclaimed 25 year old. Rich with emotion, Lewis wears his heart on his sleeve in this gorgeous love song. The gleaming guitar lines, crystalline melodies and captivating vocals showcase Lewis at his best.

Picking up the guitar at the age of 16 Lewis first came to public attention by uploading stripped-back covers online, and it wasn’t long until the teenage singer saw views clocking up in their hundreds of thousands.

In 2012 his debut EP of original material it’s got four sad songs on it, btw went straight to the top of the iTunes singer-songwriter chart on the day of release. Sparking the attention of major labels, Lewis soon signed to Warner Bros and went on to release four more rave-reviewed EPs, all of which dominated the iTunes chart, followed by his debut album the morning in 2014.

The young British troubadour also cemented himself as a remarkable live artist, playing to sold-out crowds across the globe including headlining London’s Shepherds Bush Empire, NYC’s Bowery Ballroom and LA’s Troubadour, supporting acts such as Coldplay, Kodaline and Lianne La Havas, selling out a headline tour of Australia and appearing at festivals including Glastonbury, V, Bestival, The Great Escape and T In The Park.

Feted by the press, championed across national radio stations and boasting an enormous online following, Lewis then stepped away from the limelight to refocus and work on new material. Regaining full control he was able to take his time writing songs that fully explored his experience and talent and, with a wealth of new material to choose from, he entered the studio with producer Anthony West and recorded the entire album in just two weeks with a live band.

The result is an album of power and beauty. With midnight he has developed his much-adored acoustic-pop sound into something altogether more ambitious, yet even more affecting. Drawing upon inspiration from a disparate range of influences including Death Cab For Cutie, Coldplay and Bon Iver, the album expands Lewis Watson’s musical world far beyond his debut. It also features a duet with Lucy Rose on the achingly emotional ‘slumber’.

With a choice of labels keen for his signature after two years away, Lewis decided to find a new approach to releasing his music, partnering with the leading independent label Cooking Vinyl, and heading out on tour to showcase many of the new songs direct to his fans.

The first taste of midnight comes later this month with seven intimate performances in the UK, ahead of a larger headline tour in March in support of the album, which includes a date at London’s Tabernacle on March 23rd. Full tour dates are as follows:
