Last month Knife Girl shared the first single from her forthcoming debut album ‘Uniform’, the surprisingly rock-fronting ‘The Good Times Are Coming Your Way’.

She now returns with zesty new single ‘Never Let Go’, a visceral representation of Knife Girl’s new organic approach tuned with her trademark pop inclinations, which drops on 2nd September 2022.

Known for her genre-defying and experimental approach to production, ‘Never Let Go’ perfectly balms Knife Girl’s previous electronic-leaning EPs ‘ Metro’ and ‘OONA’ with the trunk of a lively full band and overt rock-inspiration that we can expect to hear more of in her upcoming debut record.

Proficient in capturing the essence of a moment, Knife Girl’s latest offering is a nostalgic cut of sun-dappled guitar and rapturous polyrhythmic bliss comprised of twinkling synths and demanding brass, reflecting carefree and trivial early memories with her partner at the time.

Of the single, she explains:
“My partner at the time was coming over to visit me. As I waited for her train to arrive, I jammed with my guitar and hummed what would end up becoming the melody of this song. I reminisced about moments from our earlier dates. Things like the bread we ate and the beers we drank on a bench by the docks. I knew that at some point, eventually those fond memories would fade away in my mind, which made me a bit sad. Musically, I wanted this track to sound like a soft, warm memory.”

Having released music under several different guises since 2013, Knife Girl has been recognised as a serious talent with support from Wonderland, Earmilk, Dummy, BBC Radio 1 as well as being nominated for “newcomer of the year” at Finland’s Indie Awards, and listed as a “breakthrough artist” by Finnish National Radio, YLEX.

‘Never Let Go’ comes ahead of her debut album ‘Uniform’, a mature summation of her sonic endeavours thus far, and will be released on 23rd September 2022.

“Knife Girl is definitely one to watch in 2022. Lili Aslo’s music combines everything we love – experimental approach, sincerity, humour, catchy melodies and the drive to push boundaries”
