After their excellent run of summer gigs, the autumn season continues to hold more delights as Harvest Sun Promotions presents Wooden Shjips at The Kazimier on 6th September.

The Harvest Sun boys have pulled off a genuine coup in securing the band, for what will be their first gig in the city.

Known for their intense live shows, the cult San Franciscan psych rockers are playing a whistle-stop UK tour of four dates, with the Liverpool gig the final fixture.

The four-piece have been hailed as one of the innovative bands in recent years, mixing garage rock and mesmeric electronic loops, winning critical approval and a sizeable cult audience around the globe.

Influenced by rock bands such as The Doors, The Velvet Underground and The Stooges, the group also share kinship with drone rockers Spacemen 3 and electro pioneers Suicide.

Band leader Erik ‘Ripley’ Johnson has been busying himself recently with side project Moon Duo, whose Mazes LP earlier this year received rave reviews.

The band’s highly anticipated new LP West is out on August 15th and will be the quartet’s first for ultra-hip label Thrill Jockey.

The stellar line up on the night features The Fresh and Only’s as the main support.

Fellow San Franciscans, the group have been winning praise over in the US for their brand of melodic garage pop, reminiscent of early R.E.M.

Liverpool’s very own psych/kraut rockers Mugstar are also on the bill. A favourite of legendary Radio One DJ John Peel, the band played the last ever Peel Session.

Last year’s …Sun, Broken… album garnered excellent reviews and the band recently supported NYC psych rockers Oneida at their sole UK date.

To top it all off, revered Liverpool DJ Bernie Connor will be spinning discs between sets, before and after in what is sure to be one of the most talked about gigs of the year.
