In what the organisers describe as one of the gigs of the year, Harvest Sun bring US alt. country/folk act Other Lives to The Leaf on Saturday 22nd October.
Those mourning the passing the of R.E.M. would be well advised to attend, as the band deal in the same dark brooding country/folk as Michael Stipe and Co. did in the early part of their career.
The five piece from Stillwater Oklahoma recently toured the USA supporting Bon Iver.
Presently in Blighty supporting Chapel Club, Other Lives headline slot at The Leaf Café will be their debut performance in Liverpool.
The band have recently released second album Tamer Animals, the disc’s minor-key melodies winning huge praise from critics.
The BBC stated ‘This is the most uniquely sublime, meticulous and heroic 40 minutes of 2011.’
The Harvest Sun lads said of bringing the band to Liverpool, ‘We’ve been going on about their Tamer Animals album for a couple of months now, it’s quite simply one of the best albums we’ve heard in a long while, and a long pursuit has reached a successful finale.’
Check out Other Lives rendition of Dust Bowl III from Tamer Animals.
Also on the bill are rising London based band Another’s Blood who mine the same rich seam of Americana as The Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev.
Rounding off a stellar line-up are Liverpool’s ones to watch The Sundowners, who recently graced the NME’s new music section Radar.
