There are infinite ways to describe what Super Duper isn’t but what it is, is strikingly different, this highly unusual track comes from Manchester four piece band The Bright Black.

It has such a generous mix of opposing sounds from the energetic funk to the twisted rock and soul feel that has passion charging at you right from the outset.

After a successful autumn tour, the boys are back with their new single Super Duper, which will be released 1st March and the group has already started to gain momentum having been played as part of BBC Introducing which regularly showcases emerging talent.

Working in collaboration with Sugar House Studios who have had multiple successes with artists such as Pale Waves and Larkin the band have been working on new material the first of which is Super Duper that they have have described as: “A song inspired by all the strong women in our lives that are unapologetically themselves.”

2018 saw them release their debut singles Midnight and Two Two One and have had many live show highlights which include the Dot to Dot festival supporting YUNGBLUD, Larkin’s, Razorlight and the Fratellis. Playing in their hometown of Manchester at Academy 2 and headlining the Deaf Institute, Soup Kitchen and Band on the Wall.

There are no plans for an album at present but two more singles are set to be released in 2019.

The Bright Black began their musical journey with vocalist Travis Yates and guitarist Ryan Flanagan’s friendship as kids and on attending University they met up with bass player Sam Telow and drummer Harry Harrison who originally joined as a hobby but all four are now pursuing a career as a band.

Behind the music these fun loving guys are often found “collecting, training and battling Pokèmon and trainspotting”.

Superstars in the making surely?

“We didn’t choose the rock star life, the rock star life chose us…” they admit.

These lads are off to an incredible start with their own unique sound that’s not just run of the mill, their animated fervor is running right through this track and the expectation is, we are going to hear a whole lot more from The Bright Black.

Super Duper is available to download on all platforms and the accompanying video will be released later in the month, in the meantime you can listen on Spotify
