Manchester, the place for many emerging artists to begin their careers, and Luke Royalty is no different releasing his 80’s inspired synth debut single He Takes Over.

Although a sweet and melodic sounding track, lyrically it has a slightly darker connotation, a sad story taken from Luke’s hometown of Darlington and although it’s a melancholy track, Luke admits he doesn’t want to produce anything too gloomy and prefers more lighthearted music to brighten people’s day.

Musically, this is a deeply layered track inspired by contemporary artists like Mac Demarco and Rex Orange County with a good splash of Depeche Mode and The Cure for good measure, vocally it’s a very soothing sound, an interesting beginning that would stand up alongside any chart hit.

Originally from the North East he feels that “Manchester is more accepting and open to new concepts that I find refreshing”.

Although is hometown has it’s undeniable charm like no other.

Currently on summer break, Luke is studying songwriting in Manchester, which is the north’s centre of musical creativity and a fantastic place to develop his craft and mix some truly inspiring and innovative people, and with his exams out of the way for now the summer will be a great time to recharge those creative batteries.

October will bring an exciting opportunity to headline a gig in Manchester with fellow student and friend, rapper SWEETS and RnB artist Sarah Angel “It’s going to be one hell of a gig!” Says Luke. Live gig date to be announced.

He Takes Over is available to download on all platforms.
