Dizzee Rascal, who unleashes new record The Fifth today, has revealed an unlikely collaboration with a DJ who is better know for his acting skills than spinning tunes.
The British rapper has enlisted the help of Luther actor Idris Elba, to remix his latest single Something Really Bad.
Idris, 40, who starred in Thor and Pacific Rim started working up his vinyl spinning credentials at the tender age of 14.
He spent many years as a DJ in Hackney, struggling to find acting work before landing the role of Stringer in The Wire, which sent his TV stardom soaring.
Dizzee said: “Idris took it upon himself to do the remix.
“I’ve met him a few times, but recently we were in the Ibiza at the Pikes Hotel when he asked if he could do it.
“This was in the afternoon. I think he was recovering from the night before, so we sat down, enjoyed lunch and talked about movies.
“I loved The Wire and his role in Thor. He’s cool.
“He’s from round my way too innit.”
Dizzee Rascal’s album The Fifth is released today.
