Clean Cut Kid have announced details of their new single. ‘Pick Me Up’ will be released 18th March through the band’s own Babe Magnet Records/Polydor.
‘Pick Me Up’ is the third single from the Liverpool quartet who make inventive and adventurous art-pop. Mike Halls, Evelyn Halls, Saul Godman and Ross Higginson make music that they describe as “fuzzy pop ballads, washed in Mersey water.”
‘Pick Me Up’ builds on the thrilling momentum of the four-piece’s previous two singles. ‘Vitamin C’ and ‘Runaway’ introduced a band brimming with unshakeable hooks and full of imagination, songs that demanded your attention from the first second to the last. Time spent hunkered down in their Liverpool HQ honing their sound and endlessly writing and re-writing has resulted in Clean Cut Kid emerging fully-formed with a truckload of great songs at their disposal. ‘Pick Me Up’ is a lolloping anthem that continues in that vein. “As the band grows, our lives seem to become more and more hectic by the hour!” says Mike Halls, “Pick-Me-Up is a song about that calming voice that comes poking through the background noise of life: pulling you instantly back to earth.” You can imagine ‘Pick Me Up’’s infectious chorus kicking off in a sweatbox venue just as easily as you can envisage it prompting a mass singalong at a festival.
