Check out the music video for Calvin Harris’ newest song, “Promises” with Sam Smith.
The video was directed by longtime collaborator, Emil Nava, and takes place in a gritty downtown warehouse-turned-dancing-paradise, featuring the best Voguers in the world from NYC as well as model Winnie Harlow.
The music video opens with a series of dancers describing the sense of freedom found through dance culture.
“Growing up in the Bronx you have to carry this tough skin,” one dancer says. “Finding Vogue, it allowed me to express myself in a way that I couldn’t express myself anywhere else.”
“I make no promises/ I can’t do golden rings/ But I’ll give you everything,” Smith sings on the house track, which was co-written by Harris, Smith and Jessie Reyez. “Magic is in the air/ There ain’t no science here/ So come get your everything.”
“Promises” follows Harris’ PartyNextDoor collaboration “Nuh Ready Nuh Ready” and the Dua Lipa-assisted “One Kiss.” Meanwhile, Smith is in the midst of his 2018 North American tour in support of The Thrill of it All.
